Threat Scanner

To use the CA Online Threat Scanner:

    1. On the CA Online Malware Scanner Home page, click Start Scan to begin scanning your computer.

      The End-User License Agreement appears.

    2. Read the End-User License Agreement.

      If you agree with the license terms, scroll to the end of the agreement, select the option I have read and accept the terms of the end-user license agreement and click Next.

      The scanner download begins.

    3. If prompted during the download, select the Install option to install the Active X component.

      You must select the Install option to download and install the necessary Active X components. If you do not select the Install option, the scanner cannot load correctly. To reload the scanner page, press the F5 key.

      The scanner downloads and installs the required components. This can take several minutes, depending on your Internet connection.

      When downloading is complete, the scanner performs a Quick Anti-Spyware scan on your computer.

    4. (Optional) You can perform an Anti-Spyware scan and Antivirus scan after the initial Quick scan is complete.

      Anti-Spyware and Antivirus scans can take a considerable period of time depending on the number of files on your computer.

    5. To stop scanning, click Stop Scan. Click Resume Scan to resume the scan from the point at which it stopped.

      During the scan, the CA Online Threat Scanner displays the file name, threat level, and location of detected threats.

      When scanning is complete, the Scan Results tab appears, displaying summarized scan results.

    6. (Optional) Click the Print Results button to print your scan results.
