Online backup fails using Carbonite Online Storage after installing CA Internet Security Suite
Applicable Products
CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2010
Problem Summary
I just installed CA Internet Security Suite 2010. After restarting my computer, I am not able to go online. I tried disabling the firewall and snoozing the My Computer component. This did not help.
Problem Resolution
1. Open CA Security Center.
To do this, from the Start menu, select All Programs, CA, CA Internet Security Suite, and CA Security Center.
2. Click the My Computer panel.
3. Click the Update Settings (or View Settings) link.
4. Click the Program Access tab.
5. Scroll to the bottom of this page.
Look for the line C:\Program files\Carbonite\ Cabonite back up\CarboniteService.exe in the list of programs.
Also look for CarboniteSetup.exe and CarboniteUI.exe in the same location as above and apply the settings as below.
6. In the same row, under the Inbound column, select Allow.
Under the outbound column, you will notice that Allow is selected by default.
7. Click the [Edit] link across this line.
8. Under Program Security, check the boxes for the options as seen in the below screen capture.
9. Under Program Groups, check the boxes for Trusted, SafeApps and Installer.
10. Click the Apply button.
11. Click the Close button.
You should be able to use carbonite online backup without issues.
